Fluxus Box

To Eat or Not To Eat
Velvet, foam, clay, paint, plaster, wood, plexiglass, insect carcass
17”x14.5”x7.5”

In this work, I aim to explore the uncomfortably of gluttony and the psyche of appetite through the dichotomy of disgust and confusion. I did this through positioning the bugs and food in an intermingled manner. The exterior and interior merge through my use of the plexiglass, and the adorned visuals excels because of the velvet. The motif across the artwork is shine across the materials, communicating both luxury and lust.

My movie references were Corpce Bride, and Coraline.
I started out making the frame for the box then glued it all together. I think formed the bottom foam and covered it in velvet fabric. After that i made all of my object and added them to the box. My biggest struggle was figuring out how to make the hinges because the bought door hinges but they would not fit, so i had to build it with fabric.
