Experimental Sculpture

Spindle (focal point), deconstructed honey comb (pattern), nestling (negative space)

Spindle (focal point)
6.5”x6.5”x18”
Wire, masking tape, tracing paper, ink, modge pod

Nestling (negative space)
12.5”x12.5”x12.5”

Wood, wire, modge podge, tracing paper, ink

Deconstructed Honey Comb (negative space)
16”x16”x18”
Masking tape, thread, balsa wood

The three sculptures communicate a sense of whimsy
While exploring the materials to build the sculptures, I wanted to focus on the texture and space because I felt that my theme was best expressed through those aspects. I decided to include wire and tape though out all the structure to tie them all together and have fluidity through out them. I felt the work was lacking dimension so tried to have something going on any way you look at the sculptures.
I want to keep exploring the idea of not having a plan or set object to make. I want to learn more experimental design and avantgarde sculptures. The piece allowed me to explore my imagination and creative side more than I normally would. The making of this work exposed me to new ideas such as non traditional pieces and new ways to look at art..
